Welcome to the wonderful Animal Kingdom! Here, we explore all the facets about all kinds of animals, as well as some unimaginably creepy ones that dwell in the deepest depths of the ocean! There are many different types of animals in the world, but yet this Animal Kingdom is at once the Kingdom most and least familiar to us. Although we refer most of the animals with their common names, scientists sometimes use the other scientific names for the animals.

The Animal Kingdom is made up 2 main groups and hence, many animals are quite similar to each other. One group refers to the animals with the backbones that are known as `Vertebrates`. These include Mammals, Birds, Reptiles, Amphibians and Fish. The other group whereas, includes the animals without backbones, known as "Invertebrates". These are Mollusks, Worms, Arthropods, Echinoderms and Coelenterates. Thus, around 800,000 species have been identified in the Animal Kingdom.

Almost all of the animals we commonly think of -- mammals, fish, and birds -- belong to a single subgroup within one of the 33 Phyla comprising the Animal Kingdom. On the other hand, over 100,000 species belong to some 25 animal phyla, which are mostly small worms. But these are so unfamiliar that they are virtually unknown to non-scientists. The same goes for several hundred thousand tiny insect-like species populating the Arthropod phylum. If all the species of animals in the animal kingdom were to be identified, they would swell to over 10 million species!

At this site you can learn about all the fun facts on mammals, reptiles, insects, birds, fishes along with their pictures and then play games to test your knowledge.
